“My jacket was somehow attached to my backpack.”
The girl driving snickered and didn’t take her eyes off the dark road ahead.
“In front of all these people, I left the meeting after being dismissed hunchbacked, trying to disentangle my jacket.”
The driver had been taking a sip of her coke from KFC and snorted, her eyes watered.
“And since my scarf was trailing behind me, I had bent down with my ass waving in the air for all to see!”
The horror stricken face of the girl in the passenger seat sent a burst of giggles from the driver as the car slowed down. The other girl let out a nervous guffaw that filled the cold car with warmth enough to fog the windows.
“I am the epitome of grace!”
They laughed and the weight of having done such a horrible job at the meeting fell from her like icicles warming in the sun.
They went to their dorm rooms, the respective doors closing when suddenly the previous driver walked in, rifling through her mail and said with an air of nonchalance, “You have a message, they approved the proposal.”
The girl shook as she ran next door and hit the play button to the machine. She had been right! They approved the funding!
